Take Action
Do you ever feel that you can't make a difference because you're just one person? Think again! Here are a few easy ways in which you can make a difference for animals:
- Eat less meat, go vegetarian, or vegan
The meat, dairy, and egg industries exploit more animals than any other industry so by choosing cruelty-free, plant-based foods we take the biggest step towards reducing animal cruelty. We commend anyone taking a step in the right direction to reducing animal cruelty; whether it be simply reducing your meat consumption, going vegetarian, or vegan. - Be responsible
Before getting a cat or dog, ask yourself "Can I take care of this animal for the rest of its life? Do I have the time and money?" If the answer is yes then please consider adoption. Every animal that is adopted from a shelter means one less animal that will be euthanized. Make sure to spay/neuter as well to help prevent overpopulation. Beesley's, a low-cost spay/neuter clinic, is located right here in Murfreesboro. - Sign up for national action alerts
Many of the leading animal protection organizations have action alerts to let its members know the status of their current campaigns and what they can do to help. Often a quick phone call or email can make a huge difference in the advancement of a national campaign or an issue in legislation. For starters, sign up for action alerts (or email lists) with The Humane Society of the United States, Compassion Over Killing, Mercy for Animals, Vegan Outreach, and the ASPCA. - Online activism
The internet has leveled the playing field when it comes to many social justice issues. People can connect and share issues like never before. Use your Facebook, Twitter, or MySpace to post action alerts, articles, videos, and more. Get others engaged simply by spreading the word. - Get involved with RAAC
We'd love to have you!
